How It Works

1

Pick a mode

Choose "Duration" to count down from a fixed amount of time, or "Target Date & Time" to count down to a specific future moment.

2

Enter your time

In Duration mode, fill in Days / Hours / Mins / Secs or tap a quick preset. In Date mode, pick a date and time and add an optional label.

3

Press Start

The large display begins counting down in real time. Days appear automatically when the countdown exceeds 24 hours.

4

Pause or reset

Freeze the countdown with Pause and continue with Resume. Press Reset at any time to start fresh with new settings.

Why use this countdown timer?

  • Your data never leaves your device — the timer logic runs entirely in your browser. No dates, labels, or durations are ever transmitted to a server.
  • Works offline — once the page has loaded, no internet connection is required.
  • No account needed — open the page and start timing straight away.
  • Pause and resume — unlike basic online timers, you can pause mid-countdown and pick up exactly where you left off.

How to Use the Countdown Timer

  1. Select a mode using the tabs at the top of the tool: Duration or Target Date & Time.
  2. In Duration mode: enter days, hours, minutes, and seconds — or tap a quick preset (1 min, 5 min, 10 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 24 hours).
  3. In Target Date mode: choose a future date and time from the date picker. Add an optional label like "New Year" or "Product Launch".
  4. Press Start. The display will count down, automatically showing the days column when more than 24 hours remain.
  5. Press Pause to freeze the countdown. Press Resume to continue from the exact second you paused.
  6. Press Reset at any time to clear the timer and return to the setup screen.
  7. When the countdown reaches zero, a Time's up! message appears. In Duration mode, press Restart to run the same countdown again.

Duration mode vs. Target Date mode

Feature Duration mode Target Date mode

Common countdown timer use cases

  • Pomodoro / study sessions — set 25 minutes, focus, then restart.
  • Cooking — count down exactly 10 minutes for pasta or 30 minutes for a roast.
  • Events and launches — count the days and hours until a product launch, anniversary, or holiday.
  • Presentations and talks — keep to a strict time limit with a visible countdown.
  • Workouts and intervals — time rest periods or exercise sets precisely.
  • Meeting timers — ensure stand-ups, reviews, and workshops finish on time.

Features

  • Two modes: duration (set days/hours/mins/secs) and target date (pick a calendar date and time).
  • Quick presets: one-tap buttons for 1 min, 5 min, 10 min, 30 min, 1 hour, and 24 hours in Duration mode.
  • Days display: the days column appears automatically for countdowns over 24 hours.
  • Pause and resume: freeze the countdown and pick up exactly where you left off.
  • Optional label: name your target-date countdown ("New Year 2027", "Exam Day", etc.).
  • Time's up alert: clear on-screen completion message when the countdown reaches zero.
  • Privacy-first: everything runs locally — nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted.
  • No account required: open the page and start immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set a countdown to a specific date and time?

Select the "Target Date & Time" tab, pick your target from the date picker, optionally add a label, then press Start. The timer will display the remaining days, hours, minutes, and seconds until that exact moment.

Can I pause and resume the countdown?

Yes. Press Pause to freeze the countdown at its current value. Press Resume to continue from exactly where you left off — the timer does not skip any time while paused.

What happens when the countdown reaches zero?

The display changes to a "Time's up!" message. In Duration mode, a Restart button lets you immediately run the same countdown again. In Target Date mode, a Reset button returns you to the setup screen.

What is the difference between Duration and Target Date mode?

Duration mode counts down from a fixed amount of time you set (e.g. 25 minutes) — it starts when you press Start. Target Date mode counts down to a specific calendar date and time, so the remaining time is always the real gap between now and that moment.

Does the countdown timer work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the timer runs entirely in your browser and requires no internet connection.

Can I count down more than 24 hours?

Yes. In Duration mode, the Days field accepts values up to 999. When the countdown exceeds 24 hours, the display automatically shows a days column alongside hours, minutes, and seconds.

Is my data stored or sent anywhere?

No. All timer logic runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. The date, label, or duration you enter is never sent to or stored on any server — not even anonymously.
