How It Works
This free online pixelator and blur tool processes everything in your browser — your photos never leave your device.
-
1. Upload your image
Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or BMP onto the upload area, or click to browse your device. The image loads directly into a
<canvas>element in your browser — nothing is sent to a server. -
2. Choose your effect and intensity
Pick Pixelate for the classic mosaic block look — perfect for censoring faces in screenshots, ID numbers, or usernames. Pick Blur for a smoother, out-of-focus result.
Block size controls how large each solid-colour square is in pixelate mode. A small block size (e.g. 5 px) creates a fine mosaic that still hints at shapes beneath; a large block size (e.g. 40–60 px) produces big, bold squares that completely obscure detail. For hiding faces or licence plates, 15–30 px is usually enough.
In Blur mode the slider sets the blur radius — higher values spread the soft focus further and make the region harder to read.
-
3. Draw selection rectangles
Drag directly on the image to mark the area you want to censor — for example, a face or a vehicle registration plate. Each region is added to the list below. You can add as many as you need and remove any by clicking Remove.
-
4. Apply in your browser
Click Apply Pixelation or Apply Blur. For pixelate, the browser reads a single representative pixel per block using Canvas
getImageData()and fills the block with that colour. For blur, the Canvas 2DfilterAPI runs a hardware-accelerated Gaussian blur, clipped precisely to your selection — no manual pixel loops needed. -
5. Download your image
Click Download to save the result. The file is generated by
canvas.toBlob()on your device and downloaded directly — no server round-trip, no waiting for an upload.
Why users love this tool
- Your images never leave your device — all processing is done by browser Canvas APIs; nothing is ever transmitted to a server.
- Instant results — because there is no upload or server round-trip, the effect applies in milliseconds regardless of your internet connection.
- Multiple regions, one click — mark all the faces or sensitive areas in one go, then apply everything at once.
- Undo-friendly — the original pixel data is kept in memory so you can clear all regions and start over without re-uploading the file.
- Works on any device — touch events are supported, so you can draw regions with your finger on a phone or tablet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All pixelation and blurring happens locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images are never sent to or stored on any server.
What is the difference between Pixelate and Blur?
Pixelate creates a mosaic of solid-colour blocks — the classic censoring look. Blur produces a smooth, out-of-focus effect. Both hide the underlying content effectively; the choice comes down to style preference.
Can I pixelate multiple faces in one image?
Yes. Draw as many selection rectangles as you need — each is listed below the canvas. Click Apply once to process all regions together.
Can I undo the effect?
Yes — as long as you have not downloaded the file yet. Click Clear Regions to restore the original image in the preview and start over. The original is kept in browser memory throughout your session.
What image formats are supported?
Upload JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or BMP images up to 50 MB. Download the result as JPG, PNG (lossless), or WebP.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The canvas supports touch events so you can draw selection regions with your finger. No app download needed — just open the page in a modern mobile browser.
Is this image pixelator free to use?
Completely free. No account required, no usage limits, and we never add our own watermark to your output.
