What to Expect from the Conversion
This tool extracts every text item from your PDF along with its X/Y coordinates and rebuilds the page as a spreadsheet. Items on the same horizontal line become a row; large horizontal gaps between items become column boundaries.
Clean, grid-style tables convert very accurately. Complex layouts — merged cells, nested headers, wrapped multi-line cells, or visually-grouped (but invisibly-bordered) data — may need a quick tidy-up after opening in Excel.
If your PDF is a scanned document — basically a photo of a page rather than real text — the converter won't be able to extract the data. You'd need a separate OCR (text recognition) tool first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my PDF uploaded to your servers?
No. Your file never leaves your device. The conversion happens entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
Is this PDF to Excel converter free?
Yes, completely free. No account required, no watermarks, and no hidden charges.
Which browsers are supported?
This tool works in all modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. No plugins or extra software needed.
How well does it preserve tables and columns?
Text items are grouped into rows by their vertical position and split into columns based on the horizontal gaps between them. Clean, grid-style tables convert very well; heavily merged cells, multi-line cells, or visually grouped layouts may need a quick tidy-up once opened in Excel.
What is the maximum file size?
Up to 50 MB. Very large PDFs with hundreds of pages may take longer to process depending on your device's performance.
Does this work with scanned PDFs?
No. This tool extracts real text from PDFs. Scanned documents are images of pages and require a separate OCR (optical character recognition) tool to extract text first.
